Case Study
Yard Sale Hopper
Turned a Friday-night annoyance into a working web app
The challenge
Every Friday night I was hunting for yard sales across a dozen different sites, copying addresses into a maps app, and trying to guess an efficient route. It was tedious, and nobody had built the thing I actually wanted.
What I did
- Built yardsalehopper.com to sweep the web for listings and upload them automatically.
- Kept it honest: every listing links back to the original post.
- Added route optimization so a morning of sales becomes one efficient loop instead of a dozen open tabs.
Why it matters
Yard Sale Hopper is how I work: I spot a problem worth solving, then I outwork it until it’s real. AI coding tools are the accelerator, not the engine. The engine is being willing to figure out whatever the build needs, night after night, until it ships. Spot the gap, do the work, put it live.
